The Fast Cars of Fast & Furious 6

Fast & Furious 6 required around 400 cars with everything tuned in Dennis McCarthy's performance shop in Burbank, California. Dennis is the man in charge of building the cars for Fast & Furious 6. A lot of the cars for the Fast & Furious movies were build by Dennis and his team from scratch while others were bought from Craigslist.com, ebay, etc.

Cars featured in the movie includes the BMW M5, Dodge Daytona, Jensen Interceptor, Ford Mustang, the Flip Car, Ford Escort, Barracuda, Lucra LC470, Z20, Nissan Skyline, Lamborghini Murcielago, Aston Martin DB9 and a Navistar MXT military vehicle.

For the Flip Car in Fast & Furious 6, director Justin Lin tasked the film's vehicle designer with developing a car capable of driving head first into moving vehicles and flipping them into the air. McCarthy and his team designed a fully functional, low to the ground, formula one style car with a ramp on its front that allowed it to catapult other cars into the air while keeping the Flip Car driver safe.

German press agency DPA interviews Singapore Haunted producer/director

Here's the full transcript of the interview done recently by Nina Mueller-Sang from German press agency DPA (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) with me regarding my show Singapore Haunted.

DPA: How long has the show been running?
IZ: The first episode of Singapore Haunted went on air in 2010 so it has been three years now.

DPA: What is the feedback of your audience?
IZ: The audience has been great. Feedback we got is that the episodes are really scary because they are so real. The viewers and the fans are an important part of the success of Singapore Haunted and they play an important part of the show. We have fans joining in as guest investigators on the show and they also help to review footage that we recorded before an episode go on edit.

DPA: How often is a new episode being produced?
IZ: A lot of work goes into a Singapore Haunted episode. We do lots of research and recce of the locations. We are now in pre-production mode for season 3 of Singapore Haunted. Usually an episode will be produced once a week or once in 2 weeks.

DPA: How many people have you had approaching you (or have you approached) regarding paranormal experiences since the start of your show?

IZ: We are very blessed that Singapore Haunted has a huge following here. We have an average of 200,000 viewers from all over the world and our episodes were regularly mentioned in the local press in Singapore so we do get a lot of coverage. We get 10 to 30 emails from viewers each week, telling us about their paranormal experiences.

DPA: Do you find it easy to come around haunted stories or experiences with the supernatural here in Singapore?

IZ: People will usually be surprise that Singapore being a modern city that there are still people here who believe in the supernatural. But I guess a major reason is we are all Asians and being Asians we are deeply rooted to the stories and beliefs of the supernatural that have been told to us since we are young. It's also part of the Asian culture. I would say 3 out of 5 Singaporeans have encountered some sort of paranormal activity or believe in such phenomenon.

DPA: How long do you think will the stories from the public be able to sustain the show?

IZ: The beauty about the paranormal is that it is an evergreen content. People are always fascinated with the unknown. I think that will drive the show even further. We have a lot of cases that we have yet to cover on Singapore Haunted and we will be doing so in the coming season and season ahead. We are also considering expanding Singapore Haunted overseas - kinda like a Singapore Haunted Asian Tour for example, where we investigate paranormal cases in other countries and at the same be closer to our fans in those countries.

DPA: Have you personally had encounters with ghosts/spirits, orbs or any other supernatural entity?

IZ: As a producer and director of the show, I started out being a skeptic. Like most people, I heard stories about the paranormal from family and friends while growing up but I have never believe in them until I did Singapore Haunted. I've been touched. I've chased after shadows. I had things thrown at me. I've heard voices, etc. So I guess Singapore Haunted has given me a unique experience which has changed my perception of the paranormal. I'm now a believer.

DPA: Why do you think Singapore has been coined the most haunted city in Asia?

IZ: I don't really agree with that. True we do have quite a history here and we do have a lot of paranormal cases but I think that same applies to cities like Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta too. But I guess Singapore is being coined the most haunted city in Asia probably because of what happened during the Japanese invasion and occupation during World War II here. Lots of massacre happened here.

How to spot Comet PanSTARRS in Singapore

Despite being a naked eye object, Comet PanSTARRS is a challenging comet to spot for us in Singapore. Officially it's around magnitude 1 to 2 now, pretty bright for a comet, but it is near to the horizon so you need the help of a pair of binoculars to spot it. The comet will look like a fuzzy point of light. You don't get to see its short tail unless you use a telescope or via astrophotography.

Another way to spot Comet PanSTARRS is to use your digital camera. Point it to the western horizon, set your ISO to about 400 or more, use a 50mm lens and snap a pic of about 4 to 5 secs long. Remember to use a tripod and you need an unobstructed view of the western horizon. The comet, if it is not covered by the smog/haze/clouds, should appear in your photograph.

You can use the map above as a guide. The map is for Singapore observers facing the western sky at 7.45pm. The crescent moon on the map is for March 14. The moon will be higher in the sky after each day. The comet will be visible for about 15 minutes before it sets and you have until maybe 18th March to spot it before it gets too low for us in Singapore. Good luck and clear skies.
